Urbanattic, in collaboration with C.U.M., and in conjunction with KL Design Week 2009, present The Urban Art Initiative, a programme to support, showcase and bring Malaysian artists and designers together.

MEET, MIX, MAKE

Our vision at Urbanattic is to provide a commercial platform for the creative arts community, programmes that put Malaysian artists and designers on show, and a place where you can meet others in your trade, mix it up, and make the arts work for you.

WORKING THE ARTS

If you’re an artist or a designer, and you’re Malaysian, then we want you to create a brand new section of the Urbanattic's mezzanine ceiling that will become a permanent fixture.

This section consists of 20 rectangular boards measuring 12x36 inches, and we are inviting each of you to express your creativity on individual boards. Your entry can range from paintings to photography, graffiti to collages, installation art to art deco, and you may request to have your design spread over more than 1 board. After all, we do not want to put a limit on your creativity.

You must submit your proposals by 31st May 2009 and multiple entries with different concepts are accepted. The 20 shortlisted entries will be notified by the 1st week of June and you will have 30 days to put up your selected work.

On Saturday 4th July 2009, all of you, your guests, and our friends in the creative arts network will be invited for an unveiling party, where those shortlisted will receive a token of appreciation from us.

Members of the public will also be asked to vote for their favourite work of art, and the design voted most popular that night will get a special prize worth over RM500.

So let's get those creative juice flowing!
